Canadians are experiencing a real impact on their lives from shortages of drugs and health products like infant formula, with approximately 56% of the population showing concerns about this issue.
In response to the concerns of Canadians and the demands of healthcare professionals, Minister Duclos is developing a long term strategy to improve the availability and accessibility of drugs and other health products. The objective of this plan is to better prevent, manage and inform patients and healthcare professionals in Canada. The strategy will reflect the suggestions, advice and requests received from a variety of involved stakeholders, including families, patients, Indigenous communities, academics and supply chain players.
Today, Minister Duclos has launched a 60-day public consultation which will run until August 4, to develop this strategy.
Minister Duclos will also host a number of consultations in June and September with key stakeholders.
