June is the start of Pride Season - an opportunity for the 2SLGBTQI+ community and allies around the world to celebrate the strength of the Pride movement, while also continuing to push back on the rising level of hate.
Since day one, our government has been hard at work to make sure that queer communities across Canada are protected and that everyone has spaces that they feel safe in.
While Pride Season is a time to celebrate and recognize the hard-earned victories of the Pride movement, we also need to recognize that there has been a sharp rise in hate surrounding the community as of late. Protests at drag events, calls against rising the Pride flag, anti-2SLGBTQI+ legislation, and sadly much more. This year we need to continue to ensure members of the community feel safe and accepted.
Our government has always, and will always, stand with the 2SLGBTQI+ community as we continue to fight for equity and inclusion together.
